About Us

Our Mission
To foster the spirit of giving to help fund equipment needs for services that benefit patients served at the Port Colborne Hospital Site

Founded in 1991, The Foundation is committed to supporting our community by helping to sustain patient care services at the Port Colborne General Site of the Niagara Health System.

For over 50 years, the hospital has provided acute and chronic health services to Port Colborne and the surrounding area. Today, healthcare facilities across Canada face a number of challenges including nursing shortages, physicians, and the rising costs of capital equipment. With the help of our local community, we can continue to provide excellent, leading-edge medical care in a warm and healing environment.

While government grants continue to provide the main source of operating funds for the hospital, funding for major capital expenditures are primarily the responsibility of our local community. It is through the generosity of our donors and friends that the Foundation is able to provide funds for specialized equipment and facilities, which would not otherwise be readily available to the hospital and community. We are fortunate that the people of this community have realized that supporting the hospital helps to ensure that it will be there for them and their families, when they need it.

Each year, equipment requests are reviewed by a committee of doctors, nurses and other staff, as well as representatives of the community, to determine their priority in the hospital. Through this process, we offer you the assurance that your donations make a vital difference in the lives of those who need it most – our patients.
